The Colt Gold Cup uses a trigger wider than the standard 1911 trigger. The weight of the original steel trigger would cause trigger bounce and the hammer would follow the slide. Colt added a band-aid sear depressor spring to prevent the trigger bounce. This micro sized spring was installed in one leg of the sear to keep tension on the sear.
To avoid the use of the sear depressor, King’s Gun Works offered Aluminum triggers for the Gold Cup that lessened the trigger bounce issue. They were offered in long and short lengths and in six anodized colors. Since the closing of and depletion of their inventory of parts, lightweight triggers for the Colt Gold Cup have been unavailable “off the shelf” until now.
Wilson Combat has just introduced a new lightweight trigger for the Gold Cup. They are solid aluminum with a stainless steel bow. The trigger is currently offered in a long length and includes both pretravel adjustment tabs and an overtravel adjustment screw.
